The mascara world is all abuzz of late, literally: Both Estée Lauder and Lancôme will be launching turbo-powered, vibrating-brush mascaras by the end of the year. Seriously. But the other biggest trend of the moment when it comes to getting your fringe on is decidedly more lo-fi: the gargantuan mascara brush. CoverGirl's Lashblast, MAC's Plushlash and the cult-fave Diorshow, among others, boast monstrous brushes, that with their sheer gigantism, volumize and build up your lashes with a single stroke. And personally, I love my Plushlash for creating those big, Bambi-like lashes. However, little brushes have their benefits too – (you can be a lot more precise and get at those hard-to-reach corner lashes) – and some makeup artists, such as What Not to Wear's Carmindy, say that when it comes to mascara, the smaller the brush, the better.
So I thought I'd turn it over to you to see what you think: is bigger better when it comes to mascara brushes? Or is small the way to go?

I love my LashBlast, but the brush was just too long for my deep-set, small eyes. What to do? I took a sharp pair of scissors and cut the brush in half! It's still nice and fat, but shorter. Works GREAT!!
I think it depends on the eyelashes. I actually have really long ones that are decently plentiful. A huge brush always, ALWAYS leaves a horrible clumpy mess. I use Maybelline Lash Stylist - a comb mascara which coats the lashes perfectly (while long they are bleached out - this brings them back to their roots - no pun). I find I can get the lashes that are on the very corners without the goopy mess too!
The comb mascara changed my life... ok my eyelashes!
Gotta have my long lashes!
is the Creme de Coco Masques contest open to european residents? thank yooooooou.
I also loved LashBlast but I actually prefer the little brushes because I hardly ever make a mistake with them. I also like to layer my mascaras so the little rubbing bristles work better at separating the lashes and avoiding clumpage.
as in all things, it's not the size, it's how you use it ;-) ... that said, i like a brush that fits my lashes just right -- not gigantic, and rather finely spaced.
I agree, it's all in how you apply the mascara, the slower the better and roll the brush. This creates beautiful, full lashes with length. Stay away from tar, it breaks lashes. I like Too Faced Lash Injection, mandarin oil in it makes soft, long lashes and no tar.
I prefer a small brush. A larger one just makes too much mess and makes it hard to get to the outer lashes. I really love a curved brush, but those can be hard to find.
It's actually harder to apply mascara with a large brush. And a large brush is useless if the mascara formula doesn't work anyway.
