skin fix: liz earle superskin moisturiser and concentrate

As many of you know, at most times of the year, my skin is a bit of an oilslick. Lately however, with the biting winds of winter, my complexion has exhibited a most strange occurrence: flakiness and tightness - the telltale signs of dry skin. It got me thinking that I must be a different skin type at different times of the year. So I decided to bring out the big guns: the Superskin Moisturiser, from UK import Liz Earle's naturally active skincare line. Normally, I would balk at using such a product, since it's dubbed to rejuvenate mature and very dry skin types, but my skin was in need of a big drink, so that bias flew out the window in no time. And the result? Love it. Though it's infused with all sorts of rich ingredients such as borage, rosehip and cranberry seed oil, it's not greasy at all and gave my skin the nourishment it so desperately needed. Now, I don't think I'd use this all year-long, since my skin will most likely return to its "normal" oil-saturated state come spring, but using it nightly, along with the Superskin Concentrate – (an nourishing oil that's amazingly aromatherapeutic and suitable for all skin types) – has given me the perfect amount of complexion quench. A plus? The Concentrate has antioxidant-rich argan oil, one of my top beauty trend ingredients of 2008.

How about you? Are you a different skn type in the winter versus the summer? Let me know in the comments.

DEAREST SUGARSHOCK DARLING,

MY SKIN, LIKE YOURS, GOES FROM OILY TO FLAKY IN THE SNAP OF A FINGER. IT'S REALLY QUITE FUSTRATING ALWAYS HAVING TO SWITCH UP THE SKIN CARE ROUTINE THAT TAKES ME A WHOLE SEASON TO PERFECT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
SUDDENLY, MY SKIN CRAVES THE OILY STUFF. IT'S TERRIBLY STRANGE HOW OLD MAN WINTER IS THE MAIN FACTOR OF MY SKIN ROUTINE BUT LET HIM BE.
CHEERS TO A DRY WITER AND OILY SUMMER TIME.
THE SOLUTIONS ARE ENDLESS AND US GALS HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO FIGURE THEM OUT.

anonymous - I'm glad to know I'm not alone with these skn woes! on the upside, us oily-skinned gals have the benefit of not aging as quickly. and that's something to rejoice about. :)

My skin is usually always dry but it seems to get even worse when it starts to get cold outside.
