nails: the long and short of it

Flipping through the latest 5-pounder issue of Vogue yesterday, I came across Kate Moss's latest ad campaign for YSL. Not only does she look pretty smokin' (and a bit of a ringer for lovely cokehead Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface), but something else struck me: her nails are incredibly long, and almost talon-like – a trend I noticed with Rihanna's neon nails at the Grammy Awards a few weeks ago. For so long, it's been drummed into our heads that short nails are chic (and that long nails can veer into trashy territory and are best reserved for streetwalkers and the cast of Dynasty), but I'm kind of loving this bold new length. While not so appropriate for everyday wear, it looks fresh and new, but with a definite 80s-excess-throwback vibe.
What say you of long nails - would you wear them?

I still like nails to be a tad shorter. The talon-look is a bit scary, but what do I know? I always forget to do my nails, so they're always different lengths. I guess I have all the bases covered!LOL!

lydia - hehe. you and me both - I'm a chronic nail-biter, so I doubt I could ever get my nails to ever grow this long. of course, I could try the falsies approach, but then typing on a computer all-day might be a bit cumbersome...:)
