trendshock: blue eyeliner

I'm not sure if it's that first whisper of fresh spring air or that extra hour of glorious sunlight, but I'm totally feeling the blue eyeliner vibe lately. Or maybe it was seeing all those brilliant flashes of color on the spring runways, like this blue eye at Narciso Rodriguez; either way, blue liner is just so unexpected and much more flattering than boring old black.

And while it had a very 80s-ish feel at Narciso – (swiped all over the eye and paired with those pink lips, it brought me back to grade 8 and my experiments with Wet n' Wild...) – done subtly, blue eyeliner doesn't have to seem gaudy or overdone. A light flick or winged line on the top lid paired with a nearly naked eye looks fresh and modern. Or for evening, do a full-on blue smokey eye. One liner shade I'm coveting? MAC's Eye Pencil in Indigo – a slightly greeny-blue (the top pencil in the pic at right).

this is such a great new trend. her eyes literally pop out of the photo. i think it is also important to take into account that the blue leans more towards cerulean than navy and i think this is what makes the model look fresh and young.

Btw sugarshock, do you think this look would look just as flattering on women with brown hair and brown eyes?

cerulean - you're right - this look is not so much a dark navy as a more teal-ish blue.
I definitely think this look works for dark-eyed brunettes. I'm one of them, and it works for me! :)

Indigo is the best blue liner EVER. I can't say enough good thing about it. It brightens my eyes and it's great for day time and evening diva look. I love love love it.
