I've always been a chewing gum girl, but recently my gum habit got a bit out of hand: I became obsessed with Freedent Total's Bubblemint flavor and would chew through a 12-piece pack in a single sitting. What's the harm, I figured; I'm cleaning my teeth, while helping to whiten them and getting a little something "sweet" without indulging in calorie-laden dessert-y treats. Plus, It tastes great and you can blow bubbles! But recently, when I attended a beauty event for French beauty brand Clarins, we got to talking about how women in France steer clear of chewing gum altogether for fear of wrinkles. What!? How could this be? All that gum-chewing was actually giving me wrinkles? Now, I don't think this has ever been scientifically proven, but hearing this has scared me off of gum, at least for now.
How about you? What are your gum-chewing habits?

I'm never without my gum. I drink a ton of coffee, and have the occasional smoke too (I know, I know)--who wants to smell either of those things on your breath? I'm not going to stop any time soon. French women or not, LOL!
I don't doubt that (excessive gum-chewing gives you wrinkles). However, I wouldn't worry about it too much since you also need to chew when you eat. Unless you start having pain in your jawbone like I did, then you should start cutting back.
As for bad breath, nurseexec, there's always mints, mouthwash, or, as my co-workers do, travel size toothbrushes.
Well, when my breath needs freshening, i'll chew gum. But i'm not addicted - everything in moderation.

I used to chew gum. Like sticky candies, it can pull out a filling. But the reason I stopped is the act of chewing causes you to take in air, which results in burping, or goes out the other end.
Ah!!!! My biggest fear; I was just asking a friend if she thinks it causes wrinkles. We both chew packs of gum before bed, my latest addiction, now that I switched to sugarless, is trident, sweety mint, previously it was double bubble!!! I'm trying to cut back...
