It's not like they ever went anywhere, but tattoos seem to be having a moment, particularly amongst the beauty and fashion elite. Just witness the popularity of L.A. Ink's inky lady Kat Von D, and her tattoo-inspired makeup line for Sephora (that edgy-cool rose motif on the palettes is simply breathtaking). Meanwhile, it-girl Rhianna proudly shows off her many tats in the current issue of In Style (one of them is a trail of little stars on her neck, which she shares with her man Chris Brown). And of course, there's perennial trainwreck and sometime fashion muse Amy Winehouse, whose bad-girl image is only enhanced by her many pin-up-girl tattoos. I for one, love tattoos, but I'd never cover myself in them a la Kat or Amy (I have one, and it's in a strategically hidden place). But they're not for everyone: Rapper/producer and fashion dude Pharrell told British Vogue he's so tired of his body art that he's undergoing a revolutionary new skin-grafting procedure to have them erased.
What are your thoughts on tattoos - yay or nay? Let me know in the comments.

I LOVE tattoos, preferably big and in visible places. I truly think tats are beautiful.
I have two, and will probably be getting a third shortly. I think they are fantastic, especially if they have meaning to the person sporting them. Obvs there is some bad tat work out there, but a well done tat can be simply beautiful.
I love huge, colourful tattoos on other people, I can't commit myself though. Sadly, tattoos don't fit my lifestyle, they fade and look hideous on ageing skin. So I got myself these instead http://www.bebaroque.co.uk/product.php/56/18/tattoo_me and I love them, the only down side is that now random strangers pinch my legs in night clubs to see if they're real. :-)
I love tattoos on men - complete sucker for a guy covered in 'em. Must be the 'good girl' in me!
I have a large tattoo on my shoulder - long story but I've had it a while and frankly if I could get it removed I would; simply because it no longer suits me. I'd get another instead but I don't want to be covered in 'em.
I have four, three of which I wish I could get removed. I got them in my early 20s, and now, at 45, they really don't fit my lifestyle. I never thought I'd have the job I have, and having to get dressed up two or three times a year in a formal that covers them, without being frumpy, is getting to be a pain in the butt.
For my 40th birthday, I got a beautiful and delicate armband around my left bicep (black). I love it, and don't feel like I have to hide it.
I like tattoos but I like it when I have to find them -the "for your eyes only" kind.
I have one and i really love it! Mostly because its on my back, so I often even forget that I have it
I say YAY! And I'm going to be getting my first very soon. I can't wait!
I have 3...one on my upper right arm, one on my left ankle and one on my right thigh...all of them are places that are "coverable" if needed...
I love mine, but when people ask me should they get one, I say no, if you have to ask, don't.
