Recently, I wrote about Flower by Kenzo, a new summer fragrance which I described as a fresh and modern, albeit powdery-floral scent. And while I was struck by it's retro-feel courtesy of its very powdery notes, little did I know how much of a throwback it was: to my own childhood, in fact. It's all part of trend for recreating that "new baby" smell - think that sweet scent of baby powder and lotion, which incorporates that unmistakable powderiness as well as hints of florally violet and musk. And it's not just Kenzo's Flower that fits the scent-of-a-baby trend: Insolence by Guerlain and Sensi by Armani are a couple of others. There's even a fragrance called Baby Powder, courtesy of Demeter Fragrance Library, known for recreating the elusive smells of dirt and laundromats.

I tried the Baby Powder by Demeter last summer and have been buying it ever since. It's my go to fragrance for day when I just want a hint of fragrance.
I don't know if it's just me, but I've always picked up baby-powdery notes in Chanel No. 5 as well.
