It's no secret that Katy Perry has taken style cues from burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese, but it seems she's increasingly morphing into her muse. At the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London, Perry looked so uncannily like Dita, sporting a new pin-curled, raven-haired chin-length 'do, crimson-red lips and black winged eyeliner, that the two could pass for sisters. The pair are friends so it's maybe not such a stretch that they channel the same pin-up girl aesthetic, and as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Of course, Katy's known for changing things up and being a bit more edgy with her look. Case in point: the recent "sushi manicure" she sported during a performance on the MTV Japan Music Awards.
There's plenty of "mini-Ditas" walking around lately: just witness the Weeds pin-up-girl campaign and even the Marilyn Manson-years Evan Rachel Wood. But while I have much love for Dita's look (she's one of my personal style icons), I have to wonder whether Katy is taking the Dita love a little too far.
What do you think?

Is it wrong that the "pin-up" trend is starting to irk me? I've been wearing red lipstick and winged eyeliner since I first saw Gwen Stefani wearing it when I was in elementary... was always obsessed with vintage everything and old standard singers and Dita. Now it's the new trend and I'm a little annoyed. What's a girl to do tho?
ZombieVivian - nope, not wrong at all. I think it still works for people like Dita, but now that everyone else is doing it, it's getting kind of old....
