I got to attend an exclusive beauty editor event today featuring hair guru Sam McKnight, the global ambassador for Pantene. A legend in hairstyling, he's the man behind the magnificent coifs you see in iconic ads and editorials featuring supermodels like Gisele Bundchen, Linda Evangelista and celebs such as Princess Di and Cate Blanchett. He's a regular at the runway shows too, creating the looks that become coveted hair trends and he shared some of his top hair trends for fall 2008. The catchphrase for fall? "Done, yet undone hair" – it's all about hair you can run your hands through. My fave of McKnight's looks had to be the super sleek look, as seen on the runway of Jaeger London, inspired by 70s actress Ali McGraw of Love Story. It's not the poker-straight hair of old, but rather has a subtle contour at the ends, achieved by a curling iron to give it a bit of movement. It's kind of retro hippie, but somehow seems ultra-modern, no?
