Ever heard the, "don't match your eyeshadow to your clothing" rule? Well lovelies, I'm not sure who came up with it, but Miss Keira Knightley defies it, and fetchingly so, here at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Atonement. The smokey eye done in shades of aubergine beautifully picks up on the purpley tone in Keira's dress, in a way that looks put-together and not at all garrish. The rest of her makeup is kept subtle, with but a whisper of pink lipstick and minimal blush (perhaps too minimal, now that I'm looking at it again...is she looking a little pale, or is it just me?)
And while we're being directed to pick up our flatirons again this fall, I'm loving Knightley's tousled waves. Dark, jewel-tone makeup coupled with summery, laissez-faire waves: it's the perfect summer-meets-fall look, don't you think?

I love the smoky eye, but the rest of the face? yikes! the cheekbones are so sunken in and she's looking a bit horsey. I hate to say it, but there you go.
I do agree... I love doing the smoky eye myself and while it always is mostly-successful, there really is nothing like having someone "professional" do it for you so you can look like this.
Not that I have those cheekbones...why use blush when you have those babies? They're flippin' insane!!!
I like the smoky eye, but I do not like how her face looks more pale than it already is.
lydia - do I detect a minor hate-on for Miss Knightley? ;)
ms. p&c - yes, you could cut glass with those cheekbones!
luvdalia - you're right. maybe they should have tried to add some life back into her face....
guilty as charged, I'm afraid! I don't get her appeal.
